Norman Rockwell Review: The Saturday Evening Post
. The Curtis Publishing Company, Indianapolis, Indiana. 1979. 1st Edition. 144 pages. 12 1/4 inches. hardcover. Illustrated Color. Laminated pages.
Rockwell was born into a world of horse-drawn carriages, when the telephone was a novelty and Grover Cleveland was in the White House. His earliest memory was of hearing newsboys shout word of the assassination of President McKinley. He remembered the Spanish-American War; he served in World War I; and he painted World War II from the home front. He lived on to portray man's landing on the moon and the American Bicentennial; the President who responded with words of tribute on the occasion of his death was Jimmy Carter.
